An independent bottling of 24-year-old Laphroaig single malt Scotch whisky, bottled for the fantastic Old & rare Platinum range. This Islay whisky was distilled in March 1990, matured in a refill hogshead, and bottled in July 2014 with an outturn of 285 bottles. A top bottling from Hunter Laing.
This pale golden colored whisky has a robust, full-bodied nose, with sweet vanilla honey giving way to the peat and seaweed character associated with Islay. A sweet, creamy mouthfeel is followed by a slight tongue prickle with stewed rhubarb, burnt toffee, and notes of rubber before the peat and seaweed again take over. Finally, we are left with a lingering dry finish of peat and oak. (TWB)
